BILINGUAL PRIMARY SCHOOL
The primary school at FOUR-FOREST is a full-time programme. In our primary school lessons are delivered in English and German. The students are taught in either English or German on a weekly alternating basis. The primary school follows the learning objectives of the cantons of Luzern and Zug, as well as elements from the British National Curriculum. This curriculum design affords students a range of opportunities when looking ahead to the transition to secondary school.
All classes are led by two qualified and experienced teachers, who teach in their mother tongue. With the curriculum delivered in a teacher`s mother tongue, students are exposed comprehensively to the concept of immersion. The subjects studied include mathematics, German, English, French (from Grade 5), science, music, art and design, physical education and information technology.
Transition to secondary school
At the beginning of 5th grade, the transition process begins. At FOUR-FOREST this procedure is in accordance with the public regulations. During this time the children themselves and their academic performance are specially observed and evaluated. Parents and students are regularly invited to talk with the teachers in order to discuss the most appropriate pathway for each child to continue on. In addition, we host an annual information evening which all parents may attend, which explains the transition procedure in greater detail.
