OUR APPROACH

Nurturing young minds

The primary school at FOUR-FOREST is a full-time programme. In our primary school lessons are delivered in English and German. The students are taught in either English or German on a weekly alternating basis.

All classes are led by two qualified and experienced teachers, who teach in their mother tongue. With the curriculum delivered in a teachers mother tongue, students are exposed comprehensively to the concept of immersion.

The primary school follows the learning objectives of the cantons of Luzern and Zug, as well as elements from the British National Curriculum.

This curriculum design affords students a range of opportunities when looking ahead to the transition to secondary school.

Transition to secondary school

At the beginning of 5th grade, the transition process begins. This procedure is in accordance with the public regulations. During this time the children themselves and their academic performance are specially observed and evaluated.

Parents and students are regularly invited to talk with the teachers in order to discuss the most appropriate pathway for each child to continue on. In addition, we host an annual information evening which all parents may attend, which explains the transition procedure in greater detail.

Enrichment Programme

Our Enrichment Programme was created to address the needs and interests of gifted and talented students ready for more intensive, challenging learning experiences. With guidance and support, students’ curiosity and natural inclination towards inquiry is fostered as they investigate and explore new subject matter or delve into areas of the curriculum in much greater depth. Students become more aware of their thinking strategies and learn to wield these as tools towards investigation, problem-solving and further inquiry be it in History, Geography or Art.

Enrichment classes take place on Tuesdays from 8.15-11.35am and are led by teachers with extensive experience in this field or by teachers specially trained to support gifted and talented students.

Language diplomas

At FOUR-FOREST schools we offer our students the opportunity to enhance their qualifications with an additional diploma in English or French. In today’s competitive academic and work environments, these qualifications are valued and recognised world-wide.

  • French Diploma courses offered: DALF and DELF

School schedule

Programme

Children may visit our Early Bird Club which opens at 7.30am. In Early Bird the children play, draw, colour or listen to music or stories with other children. The morning programme begins at 8.45am and ends at 11.45am. After mid-morning snacks, children enjoy playing outside on the playground.

Children and teachers eat lunch together in their own dining room. After a nap or a rest the children play outdoors before the afternoon programme continues at 1:15pm.

In the afternoon, children can be picked up at 3.15pm or they can stay in the After-School Club, where they will be cared for until 6.00pm.

Wraparound care

FOUR-FOREST schools offer a modern, family-friendly day school from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, providing supervision before lessons, during lunch, and after school with homework help and various activities.

Children play, eat, and work together, learning to share, play, and resolve conflicts.
Emphasising mutual respect, our educational team collaborates with parents to create a supportive learning environment.
