Four Forest Luzern Comes Together for a Day of Hiking and Learning
Students at Four Forest Luzern recently spent the day outdoors in Meggen, taking part in a whole-school hike that connected learning with real experiences.
Three different routes allowed all students, from Kindergarten to Grade 6 and LMS, to take part in a way that matched their level and pace.
Different routes, one shared destination
Older students followed the long route, travelling to Küssnacht am Rigi before hiking along the Höhenweg towards Meggen. The walk took up to two hours and required focus, stamina, and teamwork throughout.
Students in Grades 3 and 4 completed the medium route, exploring the sights of Meggen while staying engaged as a group.
For younger students, the route changed during the day. As the Tschädigen playground remained closed, they continued with a longer walk through the Meggen forest. The group adapted naturally, taking breaks when needed and responding to the children’s energy levels.
All groups met at the barbecue areas above Meggen, where the full school community came together to share lunch and spend time outdoors. Students from different year groups connected in a relaxed setting before returning to school on separate routes.
The day reflected the school’s values, with community, curiosity, and integrity visible throughout the experience.
The experience showed how learning extends beyond the classroom, with students engaging with their environment and each other in meaningful ways.
